Classic food with a twist & always made with love. Learn a little about the people behind Casual Foodie.
Behind Casual Foodie
We are a husband and wife team, with more than 20 years of combined restaurant experience, doing what we love, in our own way. We are a proud Kansas small business, boasting a from scratch menu, where love and flavor are never in short supply. We own and operate 3 food trucks, each with their own menu and we strive to provide a memorable and tasty experience, no matter the occasion.
Corey is quite literally the face of Casual Foodie, as he is the one running events as well as the star of our logo and branding. He is also partnered with Steven Sloan, operating Disco Gelato, a 70’s themed dessert truck. He has worked in and managed restaurants more than half of his life and brings all of that knowledge and know how to run the Casual Foodie. He has been involved with KC favorites like Yard House, BRGR and more. Outside of food truck life, he is also a proud dad to 3 young kids, and is the king of family game nights. He spends his alone time bike riding or catching up on sleep! Putting his all into every aspect of his life is the most important thing to him.
Every good partnership needs someone taking care of the small details that keep things running smoothly. That is where Maddy shines. As the designated admin, she fills the schedule, responds to the emails, takes the phone calls and keeps up the social media posts and interaction. Outside of her responsibilities to the food trucks, she is better known as mom. Soccer mom, baseball mom, dance mom, craft mom and everything in between. In the rare moments of alone time, she is an avid reader and lover of TV dramas. Taking care of people is all she has ever known. Whether it be the kids, Corey or guests of the business, she gets the taking care of people done.
Steven is the friendly face you will be greeted by at our events. He has more than 20 years of experience working with many big names, such as Ruby Tuesday, Jack Stack BBQ, Yard House, BRGR and more. But these days, he is finding joy in working for himself and being an even bigger part of the KC community. Disco Gelato is Steven’s dream come to life, his original ideas. He is the gelato master and the creator of our groovy playlists! In his free time, he loves to run and spend time at the gym or catch up on his favorite podcast. He and partner Corey go way back, both managers at Ruby Tuesday and Yard House, turning their expertise into their own business.
Corey is Steven’s partner on Disco Gelato. He is also owner-operator of Casual Foodie, a multitruck business that offers mobile catering as well as a stand alone location. He has worked in and managed restaurants more than half of his life and brings all of that knowledge and now helping run Disco Gelato.

We are Casual Foodie REGULARS! We have tried many many menu items and have never been disappointed. Really interesting and creative flavor combinations. Some all time favorites are the Banh Mi sliders, Jerk Chicken nachos, fries with aioli dip, and the Dr Pepper BBQ chicken wings….”
